  • The Chess Club meets every Wednesday during the winter months.

    • We have split the chess club into two sessions with a max of 30 students per session.

    • Meeting times are 4:00pm - 5:00pm and 5:00pm - 6:00pm

    • Each session consists of a 20 minute group instruction period followed by 40 minutes of playing time.

    • Students are encouraged to use what they learned in the instruction period during playing time.

    • We utilize the "Teaching Chess Step by Step" curriculum from the Kasparov Chess Foundation in each class.  Handouts are available.  (Just don't call it homework!).  We also provide Microsoft PowerPoint presentations on basic chess concepts and make use of a chess demo board.

      • "The Kasparov Chess Foundation is founded by World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov, there mission is to bring the many educational benefits of chess to children by providing a complete chess curriculum and enrichment programs."  http://www.kasparovchessfoundation.org/
