The Chess Club meets every Wednesday during the winter
months.

We have split the chess club into two sessions
with a max of 30 students per session.

Meeting times are 4:00pm - 5:00pm and 5:00pm
- 6:00pm
-
Each session consists of a 20 minute group instruction
period followed by 40 minutes of playing time.

Students are encouraged to use what they learned in
the instruction period during playing time.

We utilize the "Teaching Chess Step by Step"
curriculum
from the Kasparov Chess Foundation in each class. Handouts
are available. (Just don't call it homework!).
We also provide Microsoft PowerPoint presentations on basic
chess concepts and make use of a chess demo board.

throughout the season

We have plenty of chess sets so everyone can
play. No waiting for games.

Volunteers or walk-ins are always welcome (no
prior chess knowledge necessary) Learning how to and playing
chess is a wonderful opportunity for anyone!
